reservation rewards tiger direct

So I was buying an external harddrive when a window at tiger direct pops up...would you like $20 off next purchase?

Yes please I say and get rediected to Reservation Rewards I get mildly suspicious when they ask for a credit card number to 'refund' me with. Turns out the whole fkin thing is a scam and the only thing you get is a monthly fee of $12. Silly me for not reading pages of small print and assuming Tiger Direct would deal with reputable firm.

What assholes they are...I will complain bitterly.

DO NOT SIGN UP TO RESERVATION REWARDS
****UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND YOU WILL BE CHARGED MONTHLY****

A quick google search will show them up to be total crims. Now I see why the UK card was refused and only residents of canada could apply...because only Canada is so backward that it does not prosecute these peenarses.

My wife is trying this out. I'm not sure if it is a scam, its just that most people don't read the fine print. Get your discount and then cancel if you wish. It does state that you will be charged $12 a month after the first month. We will see.

Well I think that's the point, it doesn't say join our discount club for $12 a month, it says do you want $50 off next purchase. A lot of lazy people like me don't read the small print and the law should protect us. Who has time to screen the blurb? Tiger Direct don't have little catches in the small print...

I used someone else's credit card as it refused my British ones, (prolly what they do is illegal in Europe.) I became worried about the fate of friends credit card and so had to read the small print..

Good luck with it though and let us know if you make/save any money.

We went to a little Tai restaurant today up in Newmarket and had a good meal and save $10 using a coupon from that site. So far so good. Will have to see what happens when we try to cancel.

As for the fine print was it really that small? I agree the law has to ensure these things are not too sneaky but it is not clear to me where to draw the line. Basically if customers are in general not happy it would be in Tiger Direct's best interest to cut their ties with this company (maybe they will). I'm one of these people that gets annoyed when you go on a beautiful nature walk only to find a big fence blocking the view because some parent was too lazy to look after their kids and one got hurt falling off a cliff. The authorities are then forced to put up a great big fence and sign to prevent further liability. I'm not sure where the line is but at some point we have to take some responsibility for ourselves.

Thanks for you comment. I too get annoyed by warnings on coffee cups telling you the drink is hot, or on wing mirrors telling you objects are closer than they appear etc.

Thinking about your blocked view on a cliff analogy, I don't see what the beautiful view is exactly but I see your point. But imagine now there was a sign that said in huge letters "free ice cream this way hurry hurry" and had an arrow pointing to cliff edge and written in tiny tiny letters said (you are advised to go back down the hill by the back road and not to rush towards cliff edge), you might want the sign removed and the idiot who put it there boxed about the ears rather than a big fence.

Google 'reservation rewards scam' and you'll find 50 odd thousand posts complaining at their underhand tactics. So it's not just me, but I am glad it is working out.

Me I have not and will not touch Tiger Direct again.

So far so good. We got our $20 rebate from reservation rewards for the Tiger Direct purchase. Also had another $30 off at restaurants and plan to use a few more on our trip to Ottawa. We have paid $12 for the second month and will probably cancel after that.

As for my analogy, the view is the money you can save, which is substantial, and you want to put a fence around it. ;(

I had Goggled the site before and have read some of the negative posts, but can't really comment as their situations and circumstances were different and they were using different websites...who knows. I can say however that from my personal experience people getting the offer at Tiger Direct have nothing to complain about. I completed my order at T Direct and then this box came up offing me $15 off my next purchase. Clicked on the box and the amount jumped to $20 and it stated there was a monthly charge of $12 after the 1st month. Then it asked for credit card information. If I didn't want it, all I had to do was close the window, a total of 2 clicks of my time wasted and the reading of one sentence. Less time than one commercial on TV. If I did want it, I did have to enter my credit card information but that is a lot less work then climbing down that mountain (in your analogy) and the rewards are much bigger than the free ice cream. For the people that actually signed up at the Tiger Direct Rewards link and were surprised at the $12 fee that came 2 months later (are there actually any?) What did you think? Do you read? If I came up to you and said "give my your credit card and I will give you this $20 bill" would you do it? Well to those if there are any, you only have yourself to blame, so blame yourself and leave the offer for the rest of us and let the company employ people and continue to do business. This is not directed at you Perrier as I know you didn't.

It is not a scam it is a legit offer, so why are they assholes? Maybe the question should be, how big does the font have to be on notification of the $12 fee before they no longer assholes? ;)

PRETTY DAMN BIG

The 'scam' is offering money back but making you pay for it.
Yes Res Rew website mentions it, but Tiger Direct's does not, therfore it is misleading therefore they are holes. Much fewer people would sign up for membership that want cash back.

If you are making it work then good, that is what this blog is supposed to be about saving more, spending less, earning more etc So thx for sharing your positive experience.

But it is free, you just have to end it before the free trial. Anyway I will say no more on the subject as I don't want to beat it to death. I will return however if they give me a hard time to cancel.
